The Dahabeya Aqua

Originating in the Pharaonic era, the Dahabeya was once the exclusive domain of Egypt's royal families.

A dahabeya offers an intimate and elegant journey along the Nile, gliding peacefully without the noise of an engine.

Guests can indulge in the charm of secluded sites, personalized service, and the timeless ambiance of a traditional sailboat for a truly unforgettable experience.

Route & Highlights

Most Dahabeya cruises sail between Luxor and Aswan (or vice versa), usually over 4 to 6 days. Along the way, they stop at both famous and lesser-known sites that big cruise ships can’t access, such as:

  • Esna Lock – where you begin your peaceful journey away from crowded boats.

  • El Kab – an ancient, off-the-beaten-path necropolis.

  • Edfu Temple – one of Egypt’s best-preserved temples, dedicated to Horus.

  • Geb el Silsila – a sandstone quarry and spiritual site few tourists see.

  • Kom Ombo – a unique double temple dedicated to Sobek and Horus.

  • Islands and villages along the Nile – where you can walk through palm groves, visit local markets, or have tea with villagers.

The ideal months to sail are October to April, when the weather along the Nile is pleasantly warm but not too hot.
